Nitish Rana is a Delhi batter who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is known for his aggressive batting and leadership skills. He has scored over 2000 runs in IPL with 16 fifties and a strike rate of over 130.
Umran Malik is a Jammu and Kashmir bowler who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He is one of the fastest bowlers in the world, consistently bowling at speeds of over 150 km/h. He has taken 25 wickets in IPL with a best of 5/25 and an economy rate of under 8.
Who is Umran Malik?
Umran Malik was born on 22 November 1999 in Gujjar Nagar, Jammu. His father Abdul Rashid is a fruit seller and his mother Seema Begum is a homemaker. He grew up playing cricket with a tennis ball and joined the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association Academy in 2017.
He made his List A debut for Jammu and Kashmir in February 2021 against Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He took two wickets for 32 runs in his 10 overs. He also played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21, where he took six wickets in five matches.
He got his big break when he was selected as one of the net bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021. He impressed the team management with his pace and accuracy and was signed as a replacement for T Natarajan, who tested positive for COVID-19. He made his IPL debut on 3 October 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders and took his maiden wicket with Rahul Tripathi.
He gained attention during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 6 October 2021, when he bowled five balls in a row at more than 150 kmph. He also dismissed Virat Kohli with a yorker and finished with figures of 1/21. He was named as a net bowler for India’s team for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
He made his first-class debut on 23 November 2021, for India A against South Africa A. He took three wickets for 25 runs in his first innings. He was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4 crore in the IPL 2022 auction.
